Yes I said pieces. When I want to do something I tend to go 100%.
This is a item you want to think through and do 1 time.
You really need a Barlow. It will double the number of your eyepices.
So it is a must. Now most scopes come with a 26mm eyepiece. Or close to it. I am one of those guys that bigger is better, NOT. Not allways!!
I am now realizing that I don't need more power then about a 17mm for what I want to see in my scope. And with a 2x barlow I can turn that into a 8.5mm. Now since I can really only decide for myself I am finding that I will more then likely end up with a 26mm, 20mm, and a 17mm and possibly a 30mm-35mm. So I will at most have 4 eyepieces. Now most can get away with 2 or 3. If I were to only use 2 and a barlow I would have the 26mm and a 16mm-20mm. You will want to talk to a expert hopefully where you intend to purchase the eyepiece, they can explain your choices in models and assist you with the best possible one for your scope. You want to inform yourself about the differences. If you are going to do this for sometime (years), you will want to invest in quality eyepieces. They will make your viewing much more enjoyable. The eyepieces do not wear out, so it is an investment. You can get most of your money out of quality parts if you decide to sell. But a less expensive piece is harder to sell and you will not get as much in return. Patience will payoff in this purchase.
Enjoy

Nice post Targetshooter,

I spent months deliberating over buying my first eyepieces. In the end I decided a good 2x barlow was the way to go.

However it is tempting to buy the low cost eyepiece sets for the same price like the revelation set. Has anyone used this set? Is it any good?

Cheers

I have not seen that set.
I would stay with a wide angle of view eyepiece.
They are more expensive but usually worth it.

If anyone does find a good no name eyepiece and can compare it to a name brand eyepiece please let us all know.

It is not my intent to spend more then nessacary on any item.
