Hi to all building a 600mm dob as my first poject !!! all the books said not to but have been building things all my life both work and hobbies . Have a 12" dob but got the apature bug and here we are built a machine to do the hard work ply wood from a skip and used one side of a transit van axle after cutting and machining as the bearing. ground and partially polished mirror, have stopped to make up mirror cell so i can support it when testing. think i will struggle with testing (know i will). Live in south Wales uk my wife is the astronomer i just build things for here to look thru .
